Structural Lumber Grading

The Structural Lumber Grading training will provide certification under the Tennessee Native Species Lumber Act (TNSL Act) to those attendees that pass the test. The TNSL Act enables certified graders to grade lumber for structural applications for compliance with relevant building codes. The training course is one day in length and includes background information, a practice test and the actual test. Participants will be notified at the end of class if they passed the test. Certification is good for two years. This document shows the information that will be presented at the training session.

Lunch and supplies will be provided.

Registration now open for the upcoming Structural Lumber Grading training

This training should qualify for 6 hours of Health, Safety and Welfare continuing education with the State of Tennessee: 1) The objective of the training is to expand skills and knowledge, and 2) the presentation is preplanned and made by a qualified individual. 

Attendees who successfully complete the training will be presented with a certificate and further evidence of “the sponsoring organization, date, location, duration, instructor’s or speaker’s name and a description of the activity” can be provided on request.
