The Society of American Foresters Student Chapter at UT sent seven students to the Kentucky-Tennessee Society of American Foresters Winter Meeting in Murfreesboro, Tennessee January 24-26, 2024.

The students attended multiple technical presentations, networked with a variety of forestry practitioners, and competed with their peers from the University of Kentucky and the University of the South in a forestry-based quiz bowl.

Graduate student Melody Mount presented her M.S. research on linkages between microclimate conditions and forest carbon storage, and undergraduates Andrew Burke and David Holdridge had the opportunity to practice their public speaking skills by introducing some of the presenters on the program.

Senior Rachel Brock was selected as the recipient of the 2024 Kentucky-Tennessee Society of American Foresters Scholarship, which is awarded based on a vote of the forestry faculty, academic excellence, and professional promise.
