Dozens of people gathered on the Maryville College campus for the Outdoor Enthusiast Expo from September 19–20. The School of Natural Resources and Mountain Challenge held the event to bring together hunters, anglers, climbers, paddlers, and other outdoor recreationists.
More than 140 people registered for the two-day event. Ryan Sharp, associate professor of outdoor recreation and park management, performed with his band Tanis Root Friday night. On Saturday, vendors set up for the all-day expo, and people enjoyed different excursions ranging from kayaking and mountain biking to fly fishing and deer hunting. Attendees also watched a hunting dog demonstration, tested their archery and spear-throwing skills, and climbed Mountain Challenge’s alpine tower.
